With the opening of the airport on January 21, 2021, cultural heritage sites including Sigiriya, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, which are managed by the Central Cultural Fund, were opened to foreign tourists visiting Sri Lanka. In order to ensure the health and safety of all tourists, arrangements have been made to open these places to all tourists in accordance with the health and safety practices and regulations recommended by the Ministry of Health.

A group of 34 foreign tourists visited the Sigiriya Archaeological Site and the Dambulla Cave Temple on 09/02/2021. The project staff was able to deliver them a successful journey under the direct supervision. Actions were taken according to the health advice given by the government and the foreign tourists were not mixed with local tourists. The Sigiriya Police Station and the Archaeological Zonal Office assisted in making this work a success.
