Director General Message

As the Director General, I am pleased to share that the Central Cultural Fund plays a vital role in managing Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, serving as a valuable resource for the nation through scientific research, conservation, interpretation, development, and promotion of our cultural assets. Our efforts benefit the nation socially, spiritually, educationally, and economically, ensuring that our rich cultural heritage is accessible to all citizens. We are committed to preserving both tangible and intangible cultural heritage for future generations, maintaining its full richness and heritage value.

Since initiating operations in 1980 with six projects under the UNESCO-Sri Lanka Cultural Triangle Program, we have expanded our efforts nationwide, now encompassing over twenty-four projects. Our activities include museum management, publications, marine archaeology, replica production, and laboratory research.

Moving forward, the Central Cultural Fund aims to leverage the latest technologies to enhance the visibility of our country’s rich cultural heritage on an international scale. We are also dedicated to achieving our objectives through capacity building, sustainable employment, rigorous scholarly research, improved information accessibility, and collaboration both nationally and internationally. In addition, we prioritize community-based approaches to heritage protection that align with the nation’s sustainable development goals.

I trust that this institutional website will effectively meet your information needs and foster your engagement with us.
