Great news for all local and international travelers visiting the iconic Sigiriya! The island-wide “Suwa Seriya” 1990 ambulance service, renowned for providing free pre-hospital emergency care, is now available in Sigiriya — making your journey safer and more comfortable than ever before.
This life-saving service, operating under the 1990 emergency hotline, has been extended to Sigiriya as part of an initiative to further strengthen tourist safety and well-being. Thanks to the leadership and guidance of the Hon. Minister and Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, along with the Matale District Secretary and other key officials, this effort has been made possible through the Central Cultural Fund under the Sigiriya Project.
The service officially commenced at the Sigiriya Tourist Police Station on the 2nd of this month, marking a major step forward in enhancing the visitor experience in one of Sri Lanka’s most treasured heritage sites.
Whether you’re exploring ancient wonders or climbing to breathtaking heights, you can now do so with greater peace of mind — help is just a call away at 1990.
Sigiriya is not just a destination — it’s a safer journey with Suwa Seriya.
