As part of the Yapahuwa Project initiated by the Central Cultural Fund in 2024, excavations conducted at the Kondadeniya Maha Shila cemetery uncovered various archaeological artifacts, including earthenware jars of different sizes. The post-excavation analysis of these findings commenced on July 4th under the leadership of Prof. Chandima Bogahawatta, Additional Director General of the Central Cultural Fund. The work is being carried out under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Ranjith Bandara Dissanayake, Senior Lecturer at the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology and Senior Archaeological Advisor to the Central Cultural Fund.
