As part of the 2025 operational plan of the Central Cultural Fund, excavations at the Maligagala Royal Court Hall and the ancient sanitary complex began on March 17, 2025. This initiative is being carried out under the guidance of the custodian of the Dambadeniya Vijayasundararama Temple, Venerable Kadawath Maduwe Sumanatissa Thero, with the participation of regional archaeologist Ms. Chithrani, the site officer of the Dambadeniya Project, and other officials.
