In conjunction with the World Tourism Day on September 27, 2022, the Rathugala Tribal Heritage Center was opened for tourists today (4th October). The main objectives were to preserve the indigenous people’s heritage, to add it to sustainable tourism, to improve the living conditions of them, to boost their economy and to provide an innovative experience for local and foreign tourists.

Handicrafts, food and medicine of the tribal people are sold here at affordable prices and tourists will also have the opportunity to see their unique culture. This project is implemented as a joint project by the Uva Provincial Ministry of Tourism, Uva Wellassa University and the Central Cultural Fund. The event was coordinated by the Monaragala Project of the Central Cultural Fund.
