Launch of the Tourist Boat Service at Buduruwagala Lake
The Central Cultural Fund, Uva Provincial Council and Buduruwagala Fishery Society together launched a “Tourist Boat Service” in the Budruwagala Lake with the aim of developing the tourism industry around the Budruvagala Archeological Precinct and improving the quality of life of the people living around it on the 19th of May.
The programme was held at the Buduruwagala lake with the presence of Hon. Vidura Wickramanayake – Minister of Buddhasasana Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Jagath Pushpakumara and Hon. Vijitha Berugoda – Monaragala District Members of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Ms. Nishanthi Jayasinghe – Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Buddhasasana Religious and Cultural Affairs, Prof. Gamini Ranasinghe, Director General of the Central Cultural Fund, Mr. Nihal Gunarathne – Secretary to the Ministry of Youth affairs, Sport, social welfare, estate infrastructures development, energy and power, small industry textile of Uva Province, Mr. Sampath Nissanka – Director of the Ministry of Tourism and Industry of the Uva Provincial Council and many other dignitaries.
Along with this service, Uva Provincial Ministry of Tourism and the Wellawaya Ceylon Transport Board have jointly started a bus service from Ella Tourism Zone to Budruwagala Cultural Heritage Zone which has received special tourism service certificates.
