The conservation work of the Siva Devalaya No. 01 monument, implemented as part of a subproject under the Central Cultural Fund, has been ongoing since January 2025 under the full supervision of Site Officer Mr. W. Sarath Kumara.
This major conservation effort is part of a project supported by international assistance through UNESCO’s World Heritage Organization.
With the appointment of Dr. Nilan Cooray as the Director General of the Central Cultural Fund, conservation activities were reactivated and further strengthened. The dedicated involvement of the new Project Manager, Mr. Lal Dissanayake, has also significantly contributed to the success of this project. Since the latter part of 2024, conservation work has been carried out continuously at the site.
At present, the stone slabs of the open pavilion section of the Siva Devalaya No. 01 monument have been completely removed, and work is in progress to reposition the stone slabs on the foundation. Accordingly, the stone slab placement in the sanctum (garbhagriha) and the antarala (anteroom) sections has been completed up to the sixth course.
