Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhist governance, Religious and Cultural Affairs, went on an observation tour at the Archaeological Land of Yapahuwa yesterday (22).
The minister said the aim is to set up a formal scheme required to properly preserve historical heritage.
The Minister who visited the Yapahuwa project focused on excavations, conservation, landscaping and maintenance done by the Department of Archaeology and Central Cultural Fund in Yapahuwa Archaeological Sites.
His Excellency Negammanana Sirirathana thero and also discussed with him about the issues that should be developed to Yapahuwa as a tourist attraction area.
North Western Province Governor Thissa Warnasuriya, Director General of Archaeology Dr. Thusitha Mendis, Director General of Central Cultural Fund Dr. Nilan Kurey and a group of people’s representatives also joined together for this.
