Sri Lankan visit of UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay
Director General of UNESCO, Mrs. Audrey Azoulay visited Sri Lanka for the 75th Annivesary Celebration of UNESCO Sri Lanka partnership.
She visited the Sigiriya World Heritage site today (18). Excavation work for the conservation of Lion’s Pore started today in connection with the Archeology Fortnight programme.
Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Vidura Wickramanayake, Secretary, Mr. H. M. B. P. Herath, Additional Secretaries, Sri Lanka Secretary General of UNESCO, Director General of the Central Cultural Fund, Professor Gamini Ranasinghe, Director General of the Department of Archeology, Professor Thusitha Mendis, Additional Director General of the Central Cultural Fund Dr. Chandima Bogahawatta, Director Development Archt. Sumedha Mathota, Central Provincial Assistant Director of the Department of Archaeology, staff of the Sigiriya Project and the regional staff of the Department of Archeology participated in this event.
